Composite Dental Fillings in Saint John

Do you have tooth decay, or have a cracked tooth? Use of composite dental fillings can help alleviate such dental conditions. We at Millidge Place Dental Clinic – Dr. Murray Holburn, offer composite dental fillings in Saint John. The filings are mostly tooth-coloured and made of different materials. You can discuss your dental condition with us, and we can help you get the right filling for your teeth.

Tooth fillings, along with silver amalgams fillings, are mostly popular. As the composite filling has the colour of your natural teeth, it can easily match with the existing teeth and make the exposed part of your teeth aesthetically pleasing. The fillings are also durable and can last for a long time. But, like most of the dental restoration solutions, dental fillings also need to be replaced with the passage of time.

Why Use Composite Fillings?

Composite fillings can be used to:

Remove undesired space between two teeth

Repair a chipped, cracked, worn-out, or broken tooth

Improve a decayed tooth

How Are Composite Fillings Placed?

Composite fillings can generally be placed in a single appointment. In case of tooth decay, we will first numb your tooth. Then clean the decay thoroughly and prepare the space before we place the filling. If the decay is too close to the nerve, a special medication can be applied for added protection. The filling is now placed into the cleaned space. Later, the filling is polished and shaped so that the tooth is restored to its original shape and function.

You may experience some sensitivity just after the filling is placed and it is absolutely normal. This sensitivity will gradually subside once the tooth adapts to the filling. We will also give you instructions after the procedure to take care of the filling. Maintaining proper dental hygiene and regularly visiting the dentist will help prolong the life of your new fillings.
