Sticky candies and sweets are big culprits, as are sodas, starchy foods, and alcohol.

If you consume any of the above, be sure to drink plenty of water to wash your teeth and always brush and floss afterward. The best practice is to try and limit these foods and drinks in your diet.

4. Start Using Mouthwash

Dental rinses can also help to reduce the risk of tooth decay or other dental issues. Use a mouthwash after meals or after brushing to improve your dental hygiene routine. Doing so can help to prevent plaque and cavities.

5. Book Dental Exams and Cleanings

While maintaining a dental hygiene routine is important, nothing can compare to visiting your dentist for regular dental exams.
